Crossing the moor

The sun vanished beyond the western horizon. Time passed by. It was still a long way to across the moor. Looking ahead one could see the thorny leafless trees and shrubs striking dark forms on the canvas of brown earth and still blue sky. Huge dark blue columns of cloud were rising up. They would soon melt and merge with each other; a dark canopy with no lights; preparing for a stormy evening.
